WhatsApp likely to backup chat history with Google Drive integration

WhatsApp is looking forward to bringing a simpler way for its more than 700 million users

to save their chat history. The popular mobile messaging app could bring Google Drive

integration to restore you conversations.

Users chats gets wiped out when they uninstalls WhatsApp, change their devices or

performs factory reset. Currently, WhatsApp allows users to backup and restore their chats

but is it a long and complicated process as WhatsApp chat files have to be manually backed

up to a computer and then copied onto the new device to restore them. It is said that users

can also backup images along with chat history but not video files as they can be pretty large

in size. Hence, the addition of Google Drive will certainly be a welcome move for more that.

The possibility of a Google Drive integration was revealed in an email WhatsApp sent to a

member of their translation group, and according to the email, it asked the group member

to translate certain instructions, some of which made reference to backing up their chat

history and media to cloud service.

This should make it easier for customers who switch phones more often and want to get

access to all their chat history and data from the old device. There is no particular timeline

of the launch of this feature but we sure hope that the update will be launched soon.
